The majestic Doric temples are illuminated by a bright sun, and the long coastline, lapped by a sparkling sea, Paestum make a charming place.The ancient city is strategically located a few kilometers south of the Amalfi Coast and north of the Cilento Coast, the door to the National Park of Cilento. Paestum is regarded as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO,characterized by its art,nature,tastes and events,and is one of the most beautiful cities of Magna Graecia to visit its archaeological sites and attached air museums.
Itinerary
From your location we move an hour and half traveling south to Capaccio.. You are not going to visit an ordinary farm. In this farm each water buffalo is named, has its soft couch to lay on, has got brushes to scratch its back and some showers to refresh. The buffaloes are completely independent because of the highly engineered machinery that provides automatic cleaning and self-milking!! Also no chemical products are used to raise up and breed the animals. You will see workers producing mozzarella cheese from behind a glass and also visit the Museum of Ancient Farmers Civilization. At the end you can taste some freshly made mozzarella: delicious! Water buffaloes in Europe are only to be found in this area! Later move to Paestum: take a walk in the archeological area with its Doric temples, amphitheatre and forum. To make the best of your private tour we recommend you take our optional guided service.Our walking Tour shall focus on the Architecture of the three Temples and on the central area of the Forum. You will spend about one hour walking outdoor.Next to the Archeological area is the Museum, which is not big but absolutely interesting. You will see the amazing finds from Paestum and surrounding areas. Not to miss is the world famous “Diver Tomb”, one of the very few existing Greek frescoes in the entire world.
Time permitting we shall move back to the Mozzarella Farm for lunch: delicious home-made Mediterranean style cooking!
